A successful example of interaction between Ukrainian and foreign researchers was the visit of Lloyd Reeve-Johnson, President of the European Association of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology and Arturo Anadon, the former President of the Association in 2000-2009, to Lviv.
World-class scientists came to Lviv at the invitation of Yuriy Kosenko, Lviv Honorary Ambassador, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Deputy Director for Foreign Economic Relations and International Scientific Integration. For many years, Mr. Kosenko has been a member of the EAVPT (European Association of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology), has repeatedly participated in the association’s congresses, and represented Ukraine. He actively worked to make the world learn more about Ukrainian science, so that the city of Lviv would become a scientific center where international researchers gather. Most efforts were made to ensure that the 15th EAVPT International Congress was held in Lviv in 2021. First, together with the Lviv Convention Bureau, we submitted an application and presented the city at the previous Congress in Wrocław. Subsequently, we held a number of meetings with local partners and the government.
The result of productive work was the visit of the EAVPT presidents to Lviv, which shows that the city is a leading contender for hosting the International Congress. During their stay in Lviv, the professors became more familiar with the cultural and scientific opportunities of the city. They negotiated with local partners from State Scientific and Research Control Institute of Veterinary Medicinal Products and Feed Additives, Stepan Gzhytskyi National University of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnologies Lviv, visited various locations for the Congress (Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, Arena Lviv, Recreation Complex Park of Rest, House Of Scientists, Lviv Opera, Lvivarnia Museum and Cultural complex of Beer History , Malevich concert hall, Premier Hotel Dnister, Bank Hotel Lviv, Panorama Hotel, Hotel Citadel Inn).
Researchers commented positively on Lviv, and underlined many advantages in having the Congress held here in 2021.
The final decision will be announced in two weeks. We hope for a positive result. We believe that in the nearest future our city will have the opportunity to become a scientific capital for a few days, which will be visited by researchers in the field of Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology from all over the world.
