The 41st meeting of the VICH Steering Committee, chaired by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the 15th annual meeting of the VICH Outreach Forum (VOF), chaired by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH – formerly OIE), was held in Washington on 14-17 November.
The 15th meeting of the VOF was attended by 60 participants representing 22 national regulatory agencies or animal health organizations from six continents. Ukraine was represented at the Forum by Andriy Ostapiuk, Director of the State Research Control Institute of Veterinary Drugs and Feed Additives, and Yuriy Kosenko, Head at National Agency of Veterinary Products and Feed Additives.
VOF members took note of the update on VICH activities and related WOAH activities. They received an update on the status of the review of the GL Guidelines for Premixtures and the nine GLs for Antihelminthics. Participants also received an overview of the approaches of full members of VICH – the European Union, Japan and the United States – to testing the stability of vaccines for use in veterinary medicine.
The forum was interesting and useful in that it provided an opportunity not only to participate in the development or familiarization with the new vich (GL) guidelines, as was the case this time for premixes and clinical trials of anthelminthics, but also to get acquainted with approaches to research and registration of veterinary medicinal products in other countries.
