Freud’s readings took place in the Lviv House of Scientists. The event commemorated the anniversary of Sigmund Freud’s death. This year, the lecture was given by Wolfgang Martin Roth – psychoanalytic psychotherapist in Vienna, analyst of study groups in Germany, Austria and Ukraine (Truskavets project on Psychotherapy), founder of Austrian group analysis, author of radio plays, literary essays and short stories, member of the German Centre of the International PEN Club, chairman of the Austrian PEN`s Writers in Prison Committee. Wolfgang Martin Roth spoke about The future of Ukraine through the prism of psychoanalysis.
The lecture is the first day of the conference dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Austrian psychoanalyst H. Leopold-Leventhal`s visit to Lviv – this is the first psychotherapeutics, psychoanalytic visit to Ukraine, which marked the beginning of a whole history of training and psychotherapy in our widespread areas.
Before the lecture on behalf of the community of Lviv, psychotherapists who have made a significant contribution to the development of psychoanalysis in Ukraine and Lviv over the past decades were marked by commemorative awards:
- Alfred Pritz, Austrian psychoanalyst, journalist, publisher, founding rector of the Sigmund Freud University, President of the World Council for Psychotherapy, vice-president of the European Association for Psychotherapy, received the “Lviv golden coat of arms”;
- Wolfgang Martin Roth, Psychoanalytic psychotherapist in Vienna, analyst of study groups in Germany, Austria and Ukraine (Truskavets project on psychotherapy), founder of Austrian yearbook of group analysis, member of the German Centre of the International PEN Club, chairman of the Austrian PEN`s Writers in Prison Committee, received gratitude from the community of Lviv.
Freud’s readings is a unique event for Ukraine and Lviv, because until 2017 they were held only in Austria and the United States. After many years of negotiations with the Sigmund Freud International Foundation, the Lviv Psychoanalytic Institute, at the initiative of the Lviv Honorary Ambassador Alexander Flits, received permission from the foundation`s Scientific Commission to hold such an action in Lviv.
