The fifth public lecture of the annual event «Freudian readings in Lviv», initiated by Lviv Honorary Ambassador Oleksandr Filts, took place on-line in Lviv on September 23, 2020. The event is organized by Lviv Psychoanalytic Institute of Mental Health. The «Psychoanalysis as a Theory of Modernity»lecture was given by Yurko Prokhasko – Lviv psychoanalyst, Germanist, translator and author, co-founder of the Lviv Psychoanalytic Institute, psychotherapist-psychoanalyst of the Ukrainian Union of Psychotherapists.
Public academic events to mark the anniversary of the birth of psychoanalysis creator Sigmund Freud for the general public have been held in Vienna and New York for many years. This tradition was started in Lviv in 2017, when the first public lecture «Freud for us today» was given by Professor, Doctor of Medical Science, President of the Ukrainian Union of Psychotherapists, Vice President of the European Association for Psychotherapy, Honorary Professor of Sigmund Freud University (Vienna, Austria) Alexander Filtz.
